How to convert HEIC to PNG
- Choose your HEIC files, or drag and drop them onto the box. You can add many at once.
- Wait a moment while each file is converted; the progress shows above the list.
- Download each PNG with its button, or use Download all (.zip) when you converted several.
HEIC to PNG or JPG?
PNG is lossless: the converted file keeps exactly the pixels decoded from the HEIC photo, with no new compression artefacts. The trade-off is size: a PNG of a camera photo is usually several times larger than a JPG. Choose PNG when you will edit the image further or need an exact copy; choose HEIC to JPG for sharing and uploading.
Frequently asked questions
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. The converter is a web page that runs in your browser. Your files are read and converted on your own device and are never sent to a server.
Why is the PNG so much bigger than the HEIC file?
HEIC uses lossy compression designed for photos, while PNG stores the pixels without losing anything. Photos do not compress well losslessly, so the PNG is larger. Use HEIC to JPG if you need a small file.
Is there a quality setting?
No. PNG is lossless, so there is nothing to choose: the output always keeps the full decoded image.
Does the converted file keep the photo’s metadata?
No. The new file is drawn from the decoded pixels, so camera details, date taken and GPS location from the original are not copied into it. Keep the original if you need that information.
